Learn MoreOur Process
{We start with a free visit to your Watchung property — no pressure, no sales pitch. One of our experienced estimators walks the perimeter, checks the current exterior condition, takes measurements, and listens to what you want from the project. You'll get a clear, itemized written estimate that breaks down material, labor, and any prep work needed.
Most estimates are completed in a single visit of 30 to 60 minutes. If we spot anything unexpected — moisture damage, deteriorated sheathing, or problem areas around windows — we'll flag it honestly so there are no surprises on installation day. Our goal at this stage is information, not a signature.
Once you've reviewed the estimate and have questions answered, we help you select the right material for your home and budget. Whether you're choosing between vinyl profiles, weighing the value of insulated backing, or comparing fiber cement to engineered wood, we give you honest guidance based on what we've seen hold up in Watchung, NJ's conditions.
Scheduling is handled around your availability. We give you a firm installation window, order your materials in advance, and confirm everything before the crew shows up. You won't be left wondering when we're coming — clear communication is part of how we work.
On installation day, our crew arrives on time, sets up site protection for your landscaping and walkways, and gets straight to work. Old siding is removed methodically, the sheathing is inspected, and any substrate issues are addressed before new material goes up. We work to manufacturer specifications so your product warranty stays fully intact.
Throughout the day, a lead installer oversees the work and is available to answer questions. We don't rush through tricky areas like window flanges and corner returns — those spots require patience and precision, and that's exactly what they get from our team.
Before we pack up, we do a complete walkthrough of the finished exterior with you. We check panel alignment, trim seams, corner consistency, and every area that was worked. If you spot something that doesn't look right, we address it on the spot — not weeks later.
We clean the site completely, dispose of all old siding material, and leave your property better than we found it. You'll receive documentation for your warranty registration and a direct contact for any follow-up. The goal is that you feel completely confident in the work before we call the job done.
The Full Picture
Understanding what separates a lasting siding installation from a problematic one starts with what's behind the panels. At SOS Roofing and Siding, we inspect every substrate before installation begins on any Watchung job. Rotted sheathing, insufficient house wrap coverage, and improperly flashed windows are the most common root causes of siding failures — and they're all detectable before installation starts if you know what to look for.
The substrate — typically oriented strand board or plywood sheathing — has to be dry, structurally sound, and free of soft spots or delamination before new siding can go over it. Where we find compromised areas, we address them as part of the installation scope. Skipping this step to save time is something we simply won't do, because the warranty on the product and on our own labor depends on everything underneath being solid.
Trim and corner work matters more than most homeowners realize. The J-channel where siding meets a window, the corner posts at building corners, and the soffit returns all determine how the finished installation looks and how water behaves at the most vulnerable points. Rushing through trim work produces crooked reveals, gaps that collect moisture, and panels that eventually buckle because expansion gaps weren't maintained.
Most manufacturer warranties on siding products are contingent on proper installation, and proper installation means following the manufacturer's printed installation guide to the letter. When installers deviate from those specs — wrong nail patterns, insufficient fastener depth, missing starter strips — the warranty can be voided even if the product itself is high quality. Every installation SOS Roofing and Siding completes is done to manufacturer spec so that warranty coverage stays fully intact for Watchung homeowners.
At the end of the job, our lead installer walks the full perimeter with you. We point out specific things we did and why, and we want you to look closely at corners, windows, and rooflines — the spots that most directly affect long-term performance. If you see anything that gives you pause, say so. We'd rather take fifteen minutes to address a concern on-site than have you think about it for days. Our goal is a handshake at the end of the job that means something to both of us.
